Different Marketing Roles at EdTech Companies

Marketing is so much more than posting on Instagram and sending out a couple emails.

Marketing teams at EdTech companies can be large, and these roles often require you to wear many different hats at the same time. There are tons of marketing tools you’ll need to learn and many skills you’ll need to develop and hone. You’ll also work closely with the other teams in your company, such as the operations team and product team, to make sure your product is being marketed to the right audience with the right messaging.

Let’s take a look at the different roles you might find on an EdTech marketing team.

Marketing Manager

This role involves developing and implementing marketing strategies to promote a company's products or services. Marketing managers oversee the work of other marketing professionals, such as coordinators and analysts, and may work closely with sales and product development teams.

Marketing Coordinator

Marketing coordinators support the work of marketing managers and other team members by assisting with the creation and implementation of marketing campaigns. They may help plan events, create marketing materials, and track campaign performance.

Product Manager

Product managers oversee the development and launch of new products. They work with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, engineering, and design, to ensure that products meet market needs and are successfully launched.

Public Relations Specialist

PR specialists help build and maintain a positive image for a company or organization. They create and distribute press releases, manage media relations, and develop and execute PR campaigns.

Marketing Analyst

Marketing analysts use data and analytics tools to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and make recommendations for improvement. They may also conduct market research to inform marketing strategies.

Creative Director

Creative directors are responsible for the overall creative direction of a marketing campaign. They oversee the work of designers, copywriters, and other creative professionals to ensure that marketing materials are visually appealing and on-brand.

Social Media Manager

Social media managers manage a company's social media presence. They create and curate content, engage with followers, and track and analyze social media metrics to measure the success of social media campaigns.

If any of these roles sound interesting to you but you’re not quite sure how to land them or market yourself, maybe it’s time for some outside support.
