Is LinkedIn Premium Worth the Investment?

LinkedIn Premium is a paid subscription service offered by LinkedIn. Taking on a new payment may sound counterintuitive when you’re job searching and possibly lacking an income. However, depending on your professional goals and needs, it can be completely worth the investment.

Benefits of LinkedIn Premium

What could LinkedIn Premium possibly offer to make this investment at a time when you’re likely cutting back on spending worth it? Well, honestly, it can mean the difference between getting that job you’ve really been wanting versus ending up in a job that doesn’t light that fire in you.

Here are the benefits of LinkedIn Premium that make it worth the investment.

1. See who’s interested

One of the most significant benefits of LinkedIn Premium is access to more information about who is viewing your profile. This feature can help you better understand how your profile is performing and who is interested in your skills and experience. Upgrading to LinkedIn Premium allows you to see a full list of profile views over the last 90 days.

Here, you can watch if that recruiter you sent your resume to looked you up. Or, maybe you’ll even see recruiters from companies you’ve never considered looking into you, which might lead to a great opportunity.

2. Send unlimited messaging

Another key feature of LinkedIn Premium is the ability to message people outside of your network directly. This can benefit networking, job searching, as well as business development. LinkedIn Premium users can send messages to anyone on LinkedIn, regardless of whether they are a first-degree connection.

This feature can be especially helpful when reaching out to potential employers or clients to introduce yourself. This is a method I do highly recommend, if done respectfully, kindly, and calmly.

3. Access more job listings

LinkedIn Premium also provides access to more job listings. This is obviously useful for those who are actively searching for new opportunities because you can view job listings that are unavailable to non-premium users. They can also receive personalized job recommendations based on their skills and experience so you’re not spending as much time sifting through tons of listings.

One similar feature is the advanced search feature, which allows for more precise job searches based on skillset and saves time in finding relevant job postings. With LinkedIn Premium Career, you can even analyze your competition for job listings by level of experience, skills, and degrees, which can help you make informed decisions about whether to apply or not.

4. Keep Learning

LinkedIn Premium offers access to LinkedIn Learning, which provides courses to help improve soft skills and learn new ones. This can be beneficial for applicants seeking specific skills that companies are looking for. There are all kinds of videos offering help with interviewing and so much more to help you stand out throughout your job search journey.
